At Lamplighter Arts Cic have a LOT to celebrate!
Firstly a HUGE thank you to all those who donated towards the December “ITS GOING TO BE WILD’ crowdfunding campaign We are overjoyed that we met our target and raised £5139 just as our finale GLOW event opened. A further £650 was raised at the lantern shop and snack bar at GLOW.
Well done everyone who helped and donated.
THANK YOU to the BEEHIVE COMMUNITY CENTRE who were behind us all the way and who enthousiastically hosted GLOW & to ST GEORGE COMMUNITY CENTRE who let us promote the crowdfunder at their Winter Fair. We were well supported by our gorgeous team of neighbourhood volunteers including three Bristol Brunel Academy students who sold and made up all the lantern kits as part of their Duke of Edinburgh volunteering.
This funding is added to £19,985 from National Lotteries Community Fund received in November and the Imagination Funding supporting our development from Bristol City Council. Together, all this funding has been essential to our move forward.
We are now working towards Church Road Lantern Parade on Saturday December 6th at 5.30pm and will share full details when all is confirmed.
Everyone is welcome to join in the design and planning of Church Road Lantern Parade 2025 by attending our FREE project design event on Sunday 23rd February 2-5pm. It will be a fun, drop in, community based, social afternoon where you can share ideas about the local BS5 wildlife you would like the project to celebrate and learn how to protect.

If you are away and can’t join us please do send any ideas to info@lamplighterarts.org.uk .We will happily receive photos, writing and drawings or drop ideas into an envelope marked LAMPLIGHTERS in the letterbox outside Bethesda/Spark Space at 138a Church Road BS5 9HH before the end of February. Following the design event, we will launch a workshop programme of bookable workshops between now and December.
As January hurtled past us, Lamplighter Arts Cic were also delighted to once more support Bedminster Winter Lanterns with school workshop facilitation and really enjoyed creating Barton Hill’s urban animals with Travelling Light Theatre as part of the Winter Lights Festival. The jam packed month of January ended with a super busy workshops for Radstock Winter Lanterns Event which featured our beautiful St George Swans. Check out this reel of images for a bit of JOY as we near the end of Winter.
